PUPIL WINS PRIZE FOR EGG-CELLENT DESIGN
A creative youngster from Cullompton has won first prize in a West Country Eggs art competition.
The competition, run by Morrisons and West Country Eggs, asked under-16s from across the West Country to draw a picture of what the “West Country means to them…”
Seven-year-old Esther Martin from Cullompton, Devon beat off stiff competition from hundreds of entries to see her interpretation named the best by judges.
Esther won £500 worth of art materials for her school, Plymtree Church of England Primary School and £100 of art materials for herself
“As a small school it is fantastic to win such a prize,” says Mrs Rebecca Thomas, class teacher at Plymtree. “It was the perfect activity to inject some extra fun into the week and all our pupils submitted a design.”
Simon Wilson Marketing Manager at Deans Foods said: “We were overwhelmed by the level of creativity we saw in the entries and it was difficult to choose a winner. Esther’s entry really stood out for us as it combined all the criteria we were looking for – a strong West Country theme along with a striking and well thought out design.”
